Chanel Says Karl Lagerfeld Isn’t Going Anywhere (Updated)
After Diane Pernet reported on her blog A Shaded View on Fashion that Karl Lagerfeld supposedly didn't renew his contract with Chanel, we inquired about the rumor's veracity directly with the label. A spokeswoman responded with an emphatic "No!" So there you have it. Update: A spokesperson for Lanvin has also denied the rumor that Alber Elbaz will replace Karl at Chanel

Obama visits Cairo " The heart of the Muslim world"
Headlines read-Obama reaches out to Islam...and boy did he. Obama gave a brilliantly delivered and amazingly powerful speech, a speech he has been working on since before getting elected. Imagine. This man is diplomacy personified. It's seems that everything in his life was meant ( by some higher power or other) to build up to this moment. It's watching history happen right in front of your eyes with him. In an except from an article in the guardian.co.uk, a local shop keeper in Cairo was interviewed, after having made t-shirts likening Obama to the king Tutankamen. The shop keeper said, "When the boy king took power, he was young and there was a lot of unrest in the world. We are hoping that like Tutankamen-he can bring peace." I'm with the shop keeper. Msnbc has some great coverage with key points from the speach. Incredible.

John and Kate- update
Even I, find it hard to believe my first post was on John and Kate + 8. The whole situation has gotten so sordid and circus like, that I haven't posted about them since. But they are hard to ignore.
Having been a fan of the show, before any of this , I'm resentful now, of all this new found twisted attention. Even I have my limits. It was so much sweeter, when I actually believed the parents were sincere and normal, trying to do their best to raise their kids. The focus used to be on the kids . Their wide eyed innocence and absolute cuteness is what made me a fan. Well thats all gone. Now I sit here, knowing so much more. Talk about how almost everything was staged (and yes, I realize ALL reality shows are staged, but I thought this was different, after all, it involved many small children)-birthday parties, trips their vow renewals!. And how for Kate it became all about the freebies and once, she sent back a mini van they had gotten for free because she didn't like the color! And as much as I can understand how John has built up resentment for Kate who constantly belittles him, it's obvious he was having an affair. There are too many clues lying around for anyone to ignore. So now, instead of watching a show about a bunch of adorable little kids growing up normally, I sit there analyzing John and Kate's words and body language . She's gotten SO much nicer to him NOW. Now that she knows, one, he totally doesn't care about her anymore, and she really blew it, and two, now she's got EVERYONE's attention, and she's going to milk it for all it's worth! Love how in 1 week, 2 bikini shots( oh yes, she got a free tummy tuck too) have surfaced, and it wasn't staged...AT ALL. Now physchologist's are weighing in on all the damadging effects being on the show and all it's repercussions will have on the kids in the future. Great.

Winner's of Britain's Got Talent

Keith Harring revival
First it was Stephen Sprouse, now Keith Harring. It's only natural after having brought back Stephen Sprouse from the NY eighties fashion/art scene into vogue, that the work of Keith Harring also comes back to remind us what a unique place in time NY was in the eighties. Harring, originally from Pennsylvania moved to NY soon after highschool. There he went to art school, and hungout with the likes of Jean Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. He experienced success early on, but contracted AIDS and succumbed from complications in 1990. He was 31. After being diagnosed he used his work to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS. Designer Jeremy Scott and Adidas have joined and paid homage to Harring in a limited editon running shoe. Rihanna was spotted a week or so ago in a jacket also by Jeremy Scott.
